Okabe StationFujieda's fine sake produced using pure water

Known as a “Ginjo Kingdom”, Shizuoka Prefecture is an area which produces many high quality sake. Blessed with beautiful clear water and fertile soil suitable for rice production, Fujieda offers a treasure trove of fine sake where 4 sake breweries still operate even now. Besides the Hatsukame brewery (main brand: Hatsukame) located in the Okabe Station, other sake breweries such as the Sugii brewery (main brand: Suginishiki), the Aoshima brewery (main brand: Kikuyoi), the Shidaizumi brewery (main brand: Shidaizumi) have won rave reviews at national fairs and attracted many sake fans with their own unique methods and features.

Miwa Shrine, located in Okabecho Miwa to the east of the Okabe Station, is a shrine well-known for its god of sake which was enshrined here separately from the Omiwa Shrine in Nara Prefecture. Fujieda can be said to be a land where sake brewing has developed under the watch of the god of sake since ancient times.
