Takane Hakusan Shrine

This shrine was opened in 1188 by the priest Guhaku who recommended Hakusan, in Kaga Province. The main shrine was built in the early Edo period (1603 - 1868) and is designated as a tangible cultural property of the city. On mountain behind the main shrine, one of Shizuoka Prefecture's tallest Japanese cedars (prefecture-designated natural monument) is carefully guarded as a sacred tree. Every year on October 29, an traditional kagura song and dance is performed for the shrine, and this performance is designated as a prefectural intangible folk cultural property.

Remarks
This shrine is located on the slopes of Mt. Takane, at an elevation of 730 meters. Please be careful, as it is on a narrow mountain road.
