About 1200 years ago in the Heian era, there was an evil dragon which inhabited the large pond, looming over the water from Setoaraya. When the evil dragon was defeated by a renowned Buddhist priest, the large pond which used to be its dwelling dried up, revealing the Rokujizo. Legend has it that the villagers worshipped this Rokujizo, ensuring life was peaceful and tranquil thereafter. A festival is held on August 24 every year to pay homage to Rokujizo.
