It is called "Futatsuike" because there are two ponds on the left and right across the approach to Sakuranomiya Shrine. In early summer, lotus flowers spread all over and you can enjoy the fantastic scenery. The stone torii gate at the entrance of the approach was originally the torii gate of the Ara Shrine in Sagara Castle, which was built by Tanuma Okitsugu (Rōjū). However, when Okitsugu was dismissed by the next Rōjū, Matsudaira Sadanobu, Sagara Castle was destroyed and even the torii gate of the shrine was auctioned off and moved to Sakuranomiya Shrine.
